The Developmental Disability (DD) waivers are offered to both children and adults with various levels of intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. There are a multitude of services and supports offered under each waiver, depending on individualized needs and program criteria met. Therapeutic consultation service through the DD Waiver means professional consultation provided by members of psychology, social work, rehabilitation engineering, behavior analysis/consultation, speech-language pathology therapy, occupational therapy, psychiatry, psychiatric clinical nursing, therapeutic recreation, or physical therapy disciplines that are designed to assist individuals, parents, guardians, family members, and any other providers of support services with implementing the individual support plan. Individuals that currently receive the Virginia Community Living (CL) or the Family and Individual Support (FIS) Waiver can receive therapeutic consultation services.
We provide INDIRECT SERVICES:
Indirect Service means services which include ongoing progress reviews; cooperative planning; consultation; demonstration teaching; modification and adaptation of the environment, curriculum, materials, or equipment; and direct contact with the pupil to monitor and observe. Indirect services may be provided by a related services professional to another regular education, special education teacher, related services professional, paraprofessional, support staff, parents, and public and nonpublic agencies to the extent that the services are written in the client’s ISP.
The individual's therapeutic consultation service support plan shall clearly reflect the individual's needs, as documented in the assessment information, for specialized consultation provided to family/caregivers and providers. Therapeutic consultation service shall be covered in the FIS and CL waivers.
This service shall provide assessments, development of a therapeutic consultation support plan, and teaching in any of the designated specialty areas to assist family members, caregivers, and other providers in supporting the individual enrolled in the waiver.

Developmental Disability Waiver serves individuals of any age with a developmental disability and children (birth through age 9) with a substantial developmental delay or specific congenital or acquired condition. Within the Developmental Disability Waiver Program, there are three waivers that provide a continuum of services:
The Developmental Disability (DD) Waiver Program provides supports and services options for successful living, learning, physical and behavioral health, employment, recreation and community inclusion.
Our Physical Therapist, Robin Langerhans DPT, will provide a Final Support Plan (FSP) as a plan of care for that discipline.
A therapeutic consultation service support plan is the report of recommendations resulting from a therapeutic consultation that is developed by the professional consultant TEAM after they spend time with the individual to determine the individual's needs in his area of expertise.
Our therapeutic consultation service means professional consultation provided by applicable members of our physical therapy team.
